WANGDUEPHODRANG
Wangduephodrang or simply ‘Wangdue’ is at an elevation of 1,350 metres. The Wangduephodrang Dzong is perched on a spur at the confluence of two rivers. The position of the Dzong is remarkable as it completely covers the spur and commands an impressive view over both the north-south and east-west roads. The Dzong was completely lost to fire on 26 June 2012 and now it is restored back to its glory with modern fire-proof technology.
