Drugyel Dzong was built in 1647 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal to commemorate his victory over the Tibetans in 1644. Drugyel Dzong means “fortress of the victories Drukpas”. It has remained in ruins for many years and now one can see the Dzong restored back to its glory.
